Lorrie Braid
Hi! My name is Lorrie Braid and I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I have been teaching for 20 years! My story goes like this... I attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. I originally picked Florida to go to college because my major was Marine Biology. I was set out to study Great White Sharks until I worked at the YMCA throughout college. I started working in their Pre-School and really enjoyed education. I loved seeing the spark in a child’s eyes when they learned something new for the first time. I eventually changed my major to Elementary Education.
I worked at an Elementary school in South Florida for 15 years teaching 1st, 2nd, and 4th Grade. My husband and I decided it was time to come back to Oklahoma and be close to family. Since being back in the great state of Oklahoma, I have taught Pre-K to 12th Grade. I absolutely love being a teacher. I have taught in Brick and Mortar schools and Virtual Education. I have really enjoyed teaching at a Virtual setting because of the flexibility it gives the students to work at their own pace and push themselves to get ahead. I love our school because it provides a rigorous curriculum that focuses on state standards. A little bit about me outside of school...
I absolutely love spending time with my husband, daughter Penny, my 3 dogs and 1 fish. Bella is a Schnauzer Terrier who is 15, Rio is a Dachshund who is 15, and Bodie is a Sheepadoodle who is 7 months old. I absolutely love spending time with my very large family in OK. We love being on the golf course, at the lake or anything outdoors! P.S. Yes I still LOVE Shark Week!
